Coffee is aptly the brew that cheers, the brew that
endears, and the brew that starts your day! This heady
brew that originated in Africa and Arabia, has come to
occupy the numero uno position among the beverages
consumed all over the world.
"
Coffee" the name had its humble origins in a region called "Kafa" in Ethiopia which
according to legend gave its name to the plant. Italian
traders introduced it to Europe and the Britishers and
Arabs passed it on to India. |

The British set up Coffee Plantations in India and that is how
coffee took root in India. But, the original legend has it that
in about 1650 A.D a Muslim pilgrim from India named Baba Budan was the
first to bring some seeds out of Arabia and plant it in
the hills near Chickmagalur in South India where they
flourished. Today, the offspring of Baba's original trees
are officially known as old chick and still produce around
a third of India's Arabica Coffee. |

India is the only country, in the
world, which offers both Arabica and Robusta types in washed and
natural forms. A meticulous care is given in developing and
maintaining the quality and aroma of the coffee. Nestling amidst
the tall ranges of the Western Ghats and azure waters of the
Arabian Sea are the lush green coffee plantations in the
states of Karnataka, Kerala and TamilNadu, the three major
coffee growing regions in India. Growers have nurtured
these plantations for generations and mastered the art of
preserving and enhancing the inherent quality of the
coffee. Coffee in India is shade grown, manually picked
and sorted by skilled hands. |
